The Study Associations Consultations Humanities (SVO) is a faculty platform for all study associations and study foundations at the Faculty of Humanities. It serves as a link between the faculty, het faculty board and the study associations and foundations.

What does the SVO do?
The SVO brings students from different programs closer together by organizing activities for the entire faculty, such as:
- the Study Associations Consultation (SVO), at least 2 times per block. During the meeting, student board members of the faculty discuss what is happening within the associations and foundations, as well as within the university and the faculty. Board members share experiences and learn from each other.
- masterclasses and workshops for student board members to improve their administrative skills.
- activities for both student board members and students of the faculty, such as the Humanities Career Night (external link) in collaboration with Career Services (external link), the Humanities League, and the Let’s Go! parties.

Committees
The SVO has several committees, which work together to bring students of the faculty closer together in various ways.
Politics Night: the Politics Night committee organizes an inspiring evening to bring students and politics closer together. In the past, these evenings have focused on the Utrecht City Council elections (2022) and the university council elections (2023).
Career Night: every year, in collaboration with Career Services, the Humanities Career Night is organized, the faculty’s career event that focuses on career orientation. By putting students in contact with alumni and companies, they get an idea of what a career after a HUM study can look like. You can also get your resume checked, have new LinkedIn photos taken and talk to alumni at the alumni fair. Check out the HUMCN website for more information!
Sustainability and Diversity Committee: the Sustainability and Diversity Committee focuses on increasing awareness around the issues of sustainability and diversity, both among associations, foundations and all students in the faculty. The committee organizes activities such as workshops and lectures, including the big Humanities Board Dinner.
The Big Almanac Committee: the Big Almanac Committee creates an almanac for all participating study associations and foundations so that you will never forget your board year. All kinds of items and information are collected through the boards to present a beautiful almanac.
Humanities League: the Humanities League committee organizes an annual large (soccer) tournament for the entire faculty, in which all study associations and foundations compete for the coveted title of best team of the faculty. This way, students from all programs get to interact with each other!
Calendar Committee: once a year, the Calendar Committee publishes the well-known Board Calendar, often in the form of a Sexy Board Calendar. The profit raised by this calendar is earmarked for a good cause, which is determined by the committee in consultation with the SVO board.
Financial Committee: the Financial Committee is a controlling body and ensures that all financial matters within the SVO are correct, in close contact with the treasurer of the SVO board.
Let’s Go: This committee organizes the well-known Let’s Go! parties for all students of the faculty. In a dazzling theme, the committee ensures that these are the most fun nights of your student life!

Social safety
Social safety is a topic that requires constant attention, from all of us: together we work to create a pleasant and safe university environment. Student organizations are also increasingly aware of this issue. As a board, it is important to create a safe environment where members feel comfortable and treat each other respectfully.

Diversity and Inclusion
Everyone is welcome and part of our university community, regardless of one’s background! We strive to create a safe environment where we value differences and everyone feels at home: diversity and inclusion are core values for the university community. Diversity is recognizing, respecting and valuing differences among people. Inclusion is the culture that comes with that diversity: everyone is welcome within your student organization, and there is a community where everyone feels at home and valued.
